Come on Tigger – Stop Bouncing!

They’re bouncy, trouncy, flouncy, pouncy Fun, fun, fun, fun, fun!

Bouncing may be great for Tigger – and who can blame him – but not for business.

Google defines ‘Bounce Rate’ as

the percentage of single page visits or visits in which the person left your site from the entrance (landing) page

Google defines this further as a method to measure ‘visit quality’; a high bounce rate indicates that your pages are not relevant to your visitors. Visitors are  ‘bouncing away’ from your website

Essentially the more visitors stay on your site the more likely you are to convert them into customers.

Fun with Ecommerce and VAT!

We are often approached by people looking to start a new business and in particular online shops or ecommerce.  One of the most common areas we are asked to explain is VAT and how this is calculated on their website.

Obviously some products are  VAT rated others are not, but one issue that crops up a lot is – ‘I know how to add VAT to a price (e.g. price is £100.00 – VAT is 20%  – simply multiply the price by 1.2), but what do I do when I want to retail a product at a certain price and want to work backwards so  to speak.  Intuitively a lot of people will say ‘ Simply take the £100.00 and deduct 20% – giving you £80.00′  So your price would be £80.00.

It’s a whole new Outlook!

We are asked many times – ‘What is the best email solution for my business?’

Everyone has their preferences from standard email (pop3) which is set up to be collected on your PC to various ‘webmail’ services that can be collected on the go.  These work similar to services like Hotmail or Gmail, where you login to a website, when you are out and about and pick up your email.

A lot of clients have been expressing the view that ‘while I like the benefits of a webmail service, I would also like to use a programme like Microsoft’s Outlook’.

This can be done by what is know as ‘Microsoft Exchange Email Hosting’.

This allows you all the benefits of Outlook, but can be used on the road – you can also sync it with your Blackberry, or iPad.
